The opportunity
With £1.6bn of private sector investment already unlocked by public sector engagement, this project offers opportunities to develop and deliver new products and technologies to achieve the UK’s net zero targets. It will be supported by a localised clean fuel supply to decarbonise industrial processes, a transition from road to rail freight, a co-ordinated programme to develop a zero emission valley, an ecosystem of innovation through cross-sector collaboration, a regional supplier park and smart factory technology.
